Silvia Sardellaro

Silvia Sardellaro is a Berlin based artist who is currently attending a Postgraduate course for 2D Character Animation at the Central Saint Martins, College of Art & Design in London.
She graduated with distinction at the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts, in Italy with a dissertation about the connection between cinema and dreams "Between Art and Cinema of Dream: Méliès, Buñuel, Deren, Lynch”.
Thanks to a Socrates-Erasmus grant she was given the opportunity to study 10 months at KHB Weissensee in Berlin where the combination between traditional art techniques and new technologies became her focus of interest. She started to work with video and recording sounds and noises, looking for a form of expression that could bring together her previous experience with the new field of research. She collaborated with international artists and together with some of them, she eventually set up a "open-collaborative-platform", that has been developing projects and exhibitions in Germany and Italy so far. Amongst the others she took part to group exhibitions in France, Bulgaria and Switzerland. She also curated together with Giulia Manfredi a group exhibition called Fuochi Fatui (www.fuochifatui.net) In the summer 2009 she went to the Czech Republic to learn about the animation traditional techniques at Filmova Skola Zlin. At the moment she studies animation at UAL in London aiming to bring together her previous experience with the great richness that comes with animation.
